A look at the communities we've helped build, launch, and grow.
Association of American Medical Colleges

I joined the AAMC Communities Network team in 2023, helping to run and lead the engagement strategy for a 6,000+-member professional network. By the end of that year, 64% of members were engaging weekly or more often, with daily and weekly interaction becoming the norm rather than the exception. That kind of engagement doesn't happen passively. It happens when a team stays close to the community and keeps giving members a reason to come back.
Making Mentorship Easier to Access
As part of the AAMC community team, I helped implement the Mentor Match module in Higher Logic. We documented the setup, defined enrollment steps, and coordinated launch communications. This helped staff manage the rollout, supported member engagement, and helped us better understand what members valued in the mentorship experience.
Comfort is what turns a member into an active participant. Through the Member Spotlight program, I made a point of highlighting real members and their work regularly, giving people a reason to feel seen, not just counted. In the 2023 member survey, 85% of members said they felt comfortable engaging with others, 80% felt comfortable replying to posts, and 79% felt comfortable sharing their own. That level of comfort doesn't happen by accident. It's built, one spotlight and one welcome at a time.

Helping Members Feel Recognized and Connected
I used a content calendar to plan regular Member Spotlights, highlighting members and their work. This created a consistent way to recognize contributions and help members discover peers. In the 2023 community survey, 85% of members reported feeling comfortable engaging with others, reflecting the broader team’s work to build a welcoming community.
The community’s broader performance review showed an A rating for member reach, a B for activity, and a B− for content value and engagement. These findings helped the team identify strengths and prioritize improvements to the member experience.
Helping New Members Get Started
As part of the AAMC community team, I helped develop new member orientation calls, onboarding automation, and outreach messages. A structured onboarding process helped members learn how to use the platform, find resources, and get involved.
Professional Recommendations
He was tasked with overseeing the rollout and management of the mentor match and has really taken ownership of that space in his time here. He has also been thoughtful in our onboarding of new members and orientation, helping to create our 101 and 201 calls, automation, and outreach messaging.
